International Drivel

oooh, I had to blog (and yes, for those of you who know I'm moving, the idea of blogging tonight at this time *was* a packing-avoidance tactic!). I apologise to those of you who have waited patiently for a reply to comments on my blog - I didn't realise any of you were bothering to leave comments! In all honesty it was mostly an exercise to see if I could get comments on the page - it never occured to me to read my own blog to check them! (If there is an alert system I can install so I won't ignore any more comments please feel free to comment and let me know - I'll try and check my comments more frequently so I know if you've told me...)

On the second oooh note (and this is perhaps more related to my need to blog this evening) on reading a comment written waaaay back at the start of the year (apologies profusely to the individual searching for Missa Luba CD!) I've suddenly realised that by making my blog public people can actually read it! My drivel is now accessible internationally! I know that probably sounds a little obvious but, and here is one for my mate studying the whole blog thing, although I knew it *could* happen it never actually occured to me that it *would*. It would appear that at least one entry in my blog interested someone enough to comment and want further information. I don't know how they found my site - if they are a friend of a friend or just happened across the link on a friend's blog or through a search engine. Is it wrong that knowing how this happened is now bugging me? The idea of people I don't know reading my blog doesn't make me wibble as much as them commenting on it - not that the actual comment itself was a problem, indeed it was very nice (if you don't know me personally please do not refrain from commenting to reduce my wibbles!). This is a curious notion and I am considering the whys and wherefores over a glass of wine so the fog is descending, but there is a germ of an idea there - maybe if I plant it here in my blog it will germinate and grow. I look forward to the fully grown idea tree, whatever fruit it may bear...

I think I should stop drinking red wine and pack a bit...
